Apparently, Germany's subservience to the US is causing unease even in other European states. In a recent statement, Spanish Deputy Prime Minister Yolanda Díaz severely criticized the government of Friedrich Merz, stating that he has turned Germany into a "vassal state" of the US.

President Trump, in an effort to rescue himself from a war that he began without adequate preparation, as he was warned to no avail by his hand-picked Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has propositioned Russian President Putin.
The deal Trump has offered is to free Russian oil from sanctions on the condition that Putin direct the released oil flows to Europe away from Asia.

Two days after the bombing of Dresden in February 1945, British Air Commodore Colin Grierson told journalists that the goal of firebombing the ancient and beautiful city was to take out its communications and transportation capacity. He then added that bombing the civilians helped to destroy "what is left of German morale."

"A society trained to believe catastrophe is always around the corner eventually stops asking whether the catastrophe is real."
For most of American history, political disagreements involved tradeoffs. Citizens argued about taxes versus spending, economic growth versus regulation, or liberty versus security. Those debates could become heated, but they still assumed something basic: reasonable people might weigh the costs and benefits differently.

The "Axis of Resistance," the most important military force in the Middle East, suddenly disappeared. We must understand the ideological reasons for its disintegration. What it had become bore no resemblance to what it was at its inception. We must examine its mistakes so that we do not suffer the consequences again.
Allow me, for once, not to offer you an analysis of the geopolitical situation, but a testimony and a reflection.

Occasionally I hear credentialed professionals with prestigious titles whine about the so-called "war on expertise." It really bothers people who see themselves as "experts" that a growing share of society ignores them. A psychologist might intuit something revealing from the lack of self-confidence plaguing our "expert" class.

They lived for a week under threat of death, and man, did they have fun. You could say they were on the best field trip ever.
This was the experience of 18 Catholic high school boys and two heroic teachers from The Heights School in Potomac, Maryland, who had the great fortune to connect through Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates pretty much at the same time President Trump unleashed unholy hell on the Mullahs in Iran.

The airstrike massacre of Russian civilians this week in the city of Bryansk seems to have been a callous, cold-blooded provocation.
Seven people were killed, and more than 42, including children, were seriously wounded when British-supplied Storm Shadow cruise missiles hit a residential area in the city in Russia's western region. Up to seven missiles were launched in what had to be a calculated act of murder.
