If you're like most people, the older you get the more set in your ways you become.
You're less likely to give things a radical rethinking.
A noble exception to this general rule is our friend Michael Rectenwald, who in his 50s began to rethink the Marxism that had informed his academic career, and who is now opposed to all of it root and branch.
Since I deal in ideas day in and day out, some years ago I pretty well had my worldview worked out, and there it stayed, pretty much unchanged, to the present day.
It took me long enough, and I know many of you got here well before I did, but at this point I'm with all you folks who aren't buying what the medical establishment is selling.
As recently as the beginning of the Covid fiasco, I remember telling people: I'm not a libertarian out of an urge to dissent from every single bit of conventional wisdom out there.
But after observing "public health" over the past three years, and the shameful and moronic behavior of the medical establishment, everything is on the table for me now.
For heaven's sake, how many medical clinics had (and still have!) separate cups for "sanitized" and "dirty" pens, as if a used pen was going to give you Covid? How many insisted on masks despite their obvious uselessness?
(As for "well, then why do surgeons use masks," the research supporting even that practice just isn't there. According to "Unmasking the surgeons: the evidence base behind the use of facemasks in surgery," a 2015 article in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine by Charlie Da Zhou, Pamela Sivathondan, and Ashok Handa, there is "a lack of substantial evidence to support claims that facemasks protect either patient or surgeon from infectious contamination.")
Of course, the problems extend well beyond the superstitious treatment of pens and masks. I am no doubt going to alienate a portion of my readership when I say that at this point I don't see any reason not to give respectful consideration to people who take a nuanced or skeptical or critical view of...the vaccine question.
If that upsets you, don't blame me. Blame the sickos whose bizarre and cultish behavior has made nearly all sentient people wonder the same thing.
I am very happy to listen to both sides. But note: that's frowned on when it comes to the vaccine question. There is only one side. And we're so sure that one side is correct that we're going to propagandize everyone about it nonstop, and silence anyone who objects.
Sorry, but if without the slightest bit of curiosity we're just going along with crap like that, we deserve the society we get.
