Many people today consider the prospect of a socialist utopia to be very appealing. Even if they do not believe such a utopia is achievable in its purest sense, they believe it is something we all ought to work towards.

For many liberals who flirt with socialism, one of the most beguiling features of socialism is its vision of a world full of good people who are generally altruistic and do not need incentives to work towards the common good-they do the right thing from the goodness of their hearts because they are smart enough to realize that society as a whole will benefit.
