New Fed Chair and the Coming Inflation Wave

By Doug Casey
International Man

May 8, 2026

International Man: Kevin Warsh looks likely to replace Jerome Powell as Fed chair, and the market seems to assume he'll be more willing to cut rates than Powell was. What's your take on him?

Doug Casey: Before we look at Warsh, let's look at what a Fed Chair can do.

The Fed has 12 governors, but we generally only hear about the Chairman. While he's only got one of the 12 votes, the others traditionally follow his lead because of his prominence and extra powers.

Under the mandate of U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Collaboration and a Libertarian Connection

By Ira Katz

May 8, 2026

I recently went to see the historical drama Les Rayons et les Ombres. This film tells the story of the journalist Jean Luchaire (1901-1946), his daughter and movie star Corinne (1921-1950), and Otto Abetz (1903-1958), the German ambassador to France during the occupation. Luchaire and Abetz became friends in the pacifist movement between the world wars, campaigning for friendship between France and Germany.

Vote Harder ? Why Secession Is the Only Answer to the American Megastate

By Ryan McMaken
Mises.org

May 8, 2026

There are still some Trump supporters out there who continue to bill the Trump administration as some kind of great victory for the forces of populism against the "deep state." A year into the second Trump administration, it is clear this is not a serious position. The populism of the Trump campaign has clearly failed and what we ended up with instead is a continuation and strengthening of the status quo.

What Iran Contributes to International Law

By Thierry Meyssan
Voltairenet.org

May 8, 2026

The current war has given all UN member states the opportunity to observe that, on numerous occasions since its inception, the UN has violated international law. It has also served as a reminder that international law defines an attack, such as that by Israel and the United States against Iran, as "aggression." Furthermore, 193 states (including Israel and the United States) have recognized the right of the attacked state to consider as co-aggressors those states that host military bases of the aggressors.

An Incriminating Omission from Those Long-Secret Jfk Records

By Jacob G. Hornberger
The Future of Freedom Foundation

May 8, 2026

With President Trump's decision to dash the CIA's hope of keeping its JFK records secret forever, virtually all of the focus has been, naturally enough, on the various small pieces of evidence that further fill out the mosaic of the U.S. national-security regime-change operation that took place on November 22, 1963.

But there is something else to consider - what those long-secret records do not include - a critically important omission that points directly toward criminal culpability in the assassination itself.

Doctorow and Drago Bosnic Share Pcr's View That Putin's Special Military Operation Is Instead an Ever-Widening War

By Paul Craig Roberts

May 8, 2026

Doctorow Describes the Rising Cost to Russians of Putin's Ever-Widening, Never-Ending War:

"As to whether Russia is actually winning the war, my position has changed substantially from where it stood just a few weeks ago. What has changed is the vast improvement in quality and numbers of Ukrainian drones striking key infrastructure deep inside the Russian Federation.

Ai and Consciousness

I am confident the chatbots aren't conscious in the same way I'm confident the animatronics at Disneyland aren't conscious. I know humans constructed them to mimic the behavior of a sentient person. We know this for a fact. Nobody's pretending otherwise.

By Caitlin Johnstone

Richard Dawkins is currently the subject of much laughter and ridicule over his recent article for UnHerd admitting that a highly sycophantic chatbot had convinced him that it might be conscious.

What Would Be Truly Bullish ? Actually Fixing What's Broken

By Charles Hugh Smith
OfTwoMinds.com

May 8, 2026

Refusing to recognize, much less actually fix, what's broken hurries our collective rendezvous with consequences.

We've come to an interesting juncture in history, interesting because while we're being assured that AI will solve all problems, including any it creates, back in the real world, AI is incapable of fixing what's broken because too many people are getting rich off the status quo, and since the status quo is the problem, those who own / control AI will use it to maintain the status quo, guaranteeing that what's broken spirals into irreversible breakdown.

Saudis Pulled Break on Trump's Escalation

Moon of Alabama

May 8, 2026

Yesterday President Trump abandoned his laughable "Project Freedom" just five hours after his two lieutenants, Warcrime Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, had been sent out to promote it:

The president had pulled the rug out from underneath his top team. Even his closest confidants could not understand why.

"So f--g embarrassing," a source close to the president said shortly after the announcement.

The World Isn't Your Friend

Regardless of how much the stars seem to align in your life, there will come a time when you realize that as much as life is beautiful, you will inevitably come face-to-face with the unsettling fact that the world is decidedly against you.

By Casey Chalk
Crisis Magazine

May 8, 2026

I confess that I sometimes allow myself to be deceived. When things are going well professionally, when election results go the way I hoped, when I seem to be getting along with everyone I know-I can be disarmed into thinking that I am at peace with the world.
